Anyone going to be visiting Channel Island Shores this weekend? If you are, you might want to check out the 3rd Paint Ventura event. “Paint Ventura’s 3rd free creative adventure is April 26th through 29th in Downtown Ventura featuring over 100 Plein Air Artists creating, selling and teaching in downtown Ventura. Each day is FREE to the public and we are encouraging people of all ages to visually explore historic Downtown Ventura’s art scene and Ventura County’s creative individuals. Paint Ventura’s first event in 2011 featured over 54 Artists and drew a crowd of thousands of people to Downtown Ventura.” This is going to be 4 days of creativitiy, fun, and even learning experiences. 2) You have a choice about receiving telemarketing calls. Please consider registering your telephone numbers, including wireless numbers, on the national “Do-Not-Call” Registry. To register call 1.888.382.1222. You must call from the telephone number you wish to register or register online at www.donotcall.gov.
3) Ask for the name of the company, and the city and state they do business in. Verify information through the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division in that state. It is generally a toll-free number. In addition, we recommend you consider the following:
a. Never pay “upfront” fees to anyone offering to sell your timeshare;
b. Nevergive your credit card number or other personal information to strangers; and,
c. Never be afraid to ask a lot questions.

Autumn Scenery in CA and NV

People mainly associate “changing of the leaves” or fall foliage to colder climate areas like the New England area or Canada. However, portions of Southwestern states like Nevada and California boast quite an abundance of foliage coloration. Lake Tahoe, in the Northwestern region of Nevada bordering California, experiences dramatic fall leaf coloration. Big Bear Lake, in Southern California’s San Bernardino Mountains, has vivid leaf coloration, and, believe it or not, the Southern California desert region of Palm Springs has leaves changing colors from mid-October to mid-November. Of course, you need to travel up to Palm Springs’ Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness area by way of the Palm Springs Aerial Tram to truly take in the fall foliage.

Palm Springs is home to the world’s largest rotating aerial tramcars, celebrity residents, the Palm Springs International Film Festival, mid-century modern architecture, Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, numerous restaurants, and the award-winning Palm Springs Tennis Club.

Up until the 1970’s, Palm Springs used to be considered a ghost town in the summer months with some businesses and hotels closing in July and August. That began to change in the disco era as more retirees moved to the Coachella Valley for health reasons and as commerce grew, so did families with children.
